Custom knife cover sizing
A cover, sheath, or saya only works if it fits. Loose falls off in a bag. Tight drags on the edge. Here is how sizing works when the cover is made for your knife. Updated August 27, 2026.
Measure one thing: blade length
Blade length is heel to tip — from where the sharpened edge starts near the handle, straight to the point. Not the overall length with the handle, and not along the curve. That one number puts your knife in a size band:
- Small, under six inches.
- Medium, six to nine inches.
- Large, over nine inches.
Covers run $40–$50 depending on size, plus $8 flat US shipping however many are in the order.
The size band is coarse. The photo is the real measurement.
A good knife is a real investment, and it earns its keep for years. This cover is cut for that one blade and nothing else — so the band you pick is just the starting blank. The shape comes from your photo. The paper is the ruler.
That is why there is no size chart to squint at and no "measure the spine height at the heel" homework. One photo, taken the way the photo guide shows, carries every measurement that matters.
How it is made
Your knife is your own, and it deserves a cover that's just as much its own. From your photo I trace the outline, cut the shape on my laser, then glue, sand and finish it by hand.
Edge cases
Not sure which band? Pick whichever seems closest. The photo tells me what I actually need, and if it's the wrong blank, that's on me to sort out — not something you'll hear about after you've ordered.
